    • Brandon, a senior at DeLand High, won his second Class 2A weightlifting title. He bench-pressed 420 pounds and clean-and-jerked 305 to win the 199-pound class; last year he won at 183 pounds with a 370 bench press and a 300 clean and jerk.

    • Jaquizz, a senior running back and sprinter at Lamar Consolidated, set the state record for career touchdowns (136) and last fall ran for 2,902 yards and scored 43TDs; he was a Parade All-American. He also won the District 24-4A title in the 200 meters.

    • Tarik, a junior guard at Paint Branch High and Gatorade's girls' player of the year in Maryland, averaged 21.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.8 steals to lead the Panthers to a Class 3A title and a 25-0 season, with an average victory margin of 29.5 points.
