Nicole, a senior at Ashland High, finished with a 62–0
career record after throwing her 14th no-hitter to lead
the Clockers to their second straight state Division II
title. This year she was 25–0 with an 0.28 ERA and led
the team in batting average (.703), home runs (13) and
RBIs (48). Nicole has committed to Boston College.
Hannah, a junior at Dike–New Hartford High, won
the 200, the 400 and the high jump at the state
Class 2A meet, setting all-class meet records in the
400 (54.68) and high jump (5' 11") and a 2A meet record
in the 200 (24.49). She anchored the sprint-medley
relay team, which also set a 2A record (1:47.19).
Rachel, a senior midfielder-defender at Lake Forest
High, was named Gatorade National Girls Soccer
Player of the Year for 2008–09. Last fall she was
a starter on the under-17 women’s national team,
which won a silver medal at the FIFA Under-17
World Cup. Rachel has signed with Stanford.
Shelby, a senior at Suffern High, broke the national high school record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 6:33.70. She also holds the New York state high school indoor 3,000-meter title. Shelby, who has run varsity cross-country since seventh grade, is a six-time Rockland County champion.
Curtis, a senior at Albuquerque Academy, broke the 16-yearold
national high school record in the decathlon (7,909
points) at the Arcadia Invitational. He also led the Chargers
to the state Class 4A title by winning the pole vault,
110-meter hurdles, high jump and 200- and 400-meter
races. Curtis won 17 individual state titles in four years.
L.B., a senior at Westminster High, set a state record of
177' 9" in the discus to help the Wildcats win the Georgia
Class AA title. His record throw topped his personal best
by 12 feet. He was also the state Class AA heavyweight
wrestling champion, going 51–1 with 40 pins. He has
committed to North Carolina for wrestling.
David, a senior at St. Paris Graham High competing
at 135 pounds, received the Dave Schultz High
School Excellence National Award, the highest
honor for a scholastic wrestler. The four-time state
champion, who carries a four-year grade point average
of 4.0, compiled a 180–2 career record.
Layshia, a senior guard at Cajon High, is California’s
Ms. Basketball after completing her high school career
with 2,875 points, the fifth most in California Southern
Section history (trailing Cheryl Miller, Giuliana Mendiola,
Diana Taurasi and Lisa Leslie), and 945 assists,
which rank second. She has signed with Cal.
Jack, a senior at Norman North and the top-ranked high
school pole vaulter in the nation, set a Texas Relays high
school record of 18'1⁄4", shattering the 11-year-old mark
by 101⁄4". His vault was 23⁄4" shy of tying the national
high school record. The two-time state champion will
attend Oral Roberts on scholarship.
Tiffany, a senior goalkeeper and shortstop at San Clemente
High, completed the soccer season with 142 saves
and 19 shutouts, helping the Tritons go 29-4-1, win the
state Division I regional title and earn a No. 2 national
ranking for winter soccer teams. After 13 softball games
she was batting .435 with a .500 on-base percentage.
