Im from a small school in Everett, Massachusetts, i was just wondering how i could get scouters to come and watch games also besides talent what else do recruiters look for in an athlete?
The best way is to contact college coaches directly. You can send a coaches your highlights and athletic resume to spur interest. You can register for a free evaluation with our scouts by visiting: http://www.ncsasports.org/saef-takkle
I'm from a tiny school in Seward Alaska, there's only about 175 kids in my whole school. My ultimate goal would be to play on a NCAA D II school. Maybe for MIT how do I get coaches to look at me?
The best way is to contact schools directly. Look at some DI school websites and send them your information and follow up with phone calls. You can also contact our scouts at http://www.ncsasports.org/saef-takkle
Coaches look for character, grades, and amke sure that you play $!%# @* every play/love your sport. You can display these intangibles by getting to know coaches better. Calliing schools pro-actively and going on unofficial visits
and another thing, i saw this one thing, "students will be GOOGLED" well i thought it was hilarious and i googled myself... its actually alot better than i thought lol ill be signing up with the NCSA soon, for now im in alaska without my parents so soon but not now
Yes, Jake height does play a factor in how coaches evaluate your potential. But it is also important to remember that there are hundredes of colleges out there across DI,II, III and NAIA. It is important to start contacting schools at all levels. You can view our recruiting guidelines at http://www.ncsasports.org/student-athletes-families/volleyball/mvolleyball-guidelines They do a great job of outlining what requirements coaches are looking for.
i looked at those guidelines for middles and i meet just about every one except for height (im 6 5 about but im only a sophmore so i can grow) but what about the high performace teams? i wasnt planning on even trying out for them....is that really a big deal? what do they even do?
Playing in big-time tournaments against big-time competition is very important for coaches to really Gage your abilities. Playing on high performance teams give you a chance to do just that.
Does your height make a big difference for recruiters?
I ask, because im watching olympic volleyball, and theyre all really tall... me being only 5' 8", theyre all quite tall. But i know i love the sport, and i play libero cause i focused on my passing for three years because looking at my family i knew i was gonna be short...
