Which is harder football or swimming?
There's always the argument over which is harder, Swimming or Football. I'd say swimming is more difficult, considering how hard your coach is..watcha think?

i play both and i think swimming requires more conditioning where as football requires a lot more toughness...all in all i would have to go with swimmin

Swimming is so much harder. every muscle on your body is moving at the same time. your lungs are filled with carbon dioxide most of the race for not breathing. you dont get to stop in the middle of an event. and if you lose it's nobody's fault but yours.

Swimming all the way, 4000 to 8000 yards a day for practice is insane.

Julianna Posted: Nov 15, 2008 at 09:15 PM EST

I have been literally told by Football players that they think swimming is a hell of a lot harder.. They have been through classes and say they have never had a practice as hard as an 80 minute class. I believe swimming is way more tough. Its also hard to balance the mental part and physical, It takes 110% dedication and more to get you to a point where you know you trained your butt off.

Swimming is a whole lot harder than football. its all mental. dont get me wrong, i love football. but swimming takes more dedication =]

yesir :D

Rachael Posted: Nov 12, 2008 at 11:57 AM EST

i agree with you i think swimming it a lot harder fotball yeah you may get in physical pain, but us swimmers have to endure so much more with breathing excersises and other things.even more the onces who have so much dedication that we push ourselves to the highest point we can go.So yeah i agree with people when they say swimming is harder.

Tony Posted: Nov 12, 2008 at 10:18 AM EST

football of course just think about the physical abuse your body goes through

Ashley Posted: Nov 08, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

personally i think that swimming is harder because i know whats it's like and have been swimming since i was 4, but thats just my opinion...ive never tried football, but my exBF was allways complaining when he called me after practice about how hard foot ball is and how hard his game was and how much he hurts...but that could be because he acts like a little girl 1/2 the time and is a sissy...lol

Cydne Posted: Nov 07, 2008 at 08:17 PM EST

i say swimming but sometimes it depends on how much passion you have and how hard you are willing to work

Katie Posted: Nov 07, 2008 at 07:38 PM EST

I think it really all depends. I've been swimming since I was little and it's tough. It's no stop swimming for hours at a practice, while football has a million people to a team and different strings to switchout during a practice. However, Swimmers don't get banged around by 200 pound people over and over. I think they're both incredibly difficult sports, but at least football players get to touch the ground! :]

Stephen Posted: Oct 03, 2008 at 12:09 PM EDT

Ok this all depends on your concept of a hard sport. Yes swimming takes incredible physical stamina, but I doubt you could constantly take hits from 215 lbs. linebackers. What I'm trying to say is swimming is mentally harder on your body, but football is physically harder. And I used to swim on a swim team and I play football for my High School so I know both sides of the story before you start giving me @#&%.

swimming is soooo much harder. swimmers are more in shape then football players

Jack Posted: Sep 29, 2008 at 12:52 PM EDT

I agree with brian

Brian Posted: Sep 27, 2008 at 10:32 PM EDT

I swam on a team for 5 years (hard to believe I know) and I've played football for 7 seasons. On a day to day practise level, I'd say swimming is tougher, however when it comes to a "game day" type atmosphere in both, football is tougher. You need to be able to think on your feet, and know what to do in different situations. Whereas swimmming is all muscle memory and performance in a meet. You have to respect both aspects of each, practise means more performace wise in swimming, therefore the practises mean more and are harder. Just my two cents.

Matt Posted: Sep 04, 2008 at 12:13 PM EDT

yes...there r many sports out there for people to do. some people cannot take pain, while only a select few can tolerate it. my opinion is the 2 most physically demanding sports out there r wrestling and swimming. football and baseball and basketball r all $&@! %& their own level, but when ur so physically exhausted at the end of practice that u cant even pull urself out of the pool...yeah, i pretty much still stand with what i say. swimming is strenuous and impossible to master, and also challenges u physically and mentally on a daily basis.

I agree with Kevin. I am a wrestler and a swimmer and wrestling you have to condition constantly and u get beat and banged around here and there like football. But I swim as well and even though im very good at it I struggle every practice. Im a state champion and my coach pushes me just as hard that I feel like I cant do it. But its all about that mental drive you have and what your willing to do not what you have to do. And yes water polo sucks %@$ haha its crazy hard

Kevin Posted: Sep 03, 2008 at 11:54 PM EDT

I have swam and played football. There is no way to compare the sports cuz they're totally different. One has physical contact one doesn't. But water polo is harder then both:)

Trevor Posted: Sep 03, 2008 at 06:35 PM EDT

dude you must be crazy there is no way Btw Matt they quit cause it is stupid

Nicole Posted: Sep 03, 2008 at 06:25 PM EDT

You mean it's more physically demanding right? I would think yeah, maybe it is swimming. But overall football might be harder since you don't need just physical skill you have to think about strategy too.

wow nicely said matt! thank you. Thus why 3 varsity players who tried for our school, (one of them being ranked number one linebacker in the sate btw...) all quit a week an a half into season. they couldnt keep up at all. you can argue it all you want football guys, but when it boils down to simple truth, swimming will kick your a** harder than any other sport out there.
