baseballs retarded, only 8 of 30 teams make the playoffs, and wild card? i watch baseball (jays), but the wild card idea has got to be the stupidest thing ever. only the top 4 teams in each league make the playoffs. that gives teams that are good but not top ranked teams no chance at a world series title. in hockey for example, the 2006 edmonton oilers (8th in their conference)(hockey allows 16 of 30 to make the playoffs), they upset the top team (detroit red wings) and then beat san jose and anaheim to make it to the finals, only to lose to the carolina hurricanes in 7 games. as for the big surprise, i say the rays.

And last but not least, my sleeper-team is the Mets. Yeah, they got off to a rocky start. And yes, their management sucks. But last time i checked, they're rollin on 10 "W"s in-a-row are are currently tied for 1st in the NL East. Look for them to win their division, unless the Marlins make the race for First a three-way battle. Then look for them to get into the playoffs via the NL Wild Card.

The biggest dissapointments for me are the Mariners and the Yankees. The M's have never been a high-profile team, but this year, they really sunk to a new low. And with the Rays stealing the show in the AL East, you can't really consider the Yankees a sure shot to win the AL Wild Card.

Probably the most suprising team one the winning side of things are the Rays. Look for them to win their division and have my Red Sox and Yankees duel it out for the wild card. Also a team thats on the winning side of things for now are the overly-underestimated Pittsburgh Pirates. They finished at .500 at the ASB and could very easily scoop up some valuable players before the trade deadline. While they won't win their division, they will, however, give Pittsburgh their first winning season in 15 years, and all of the building up of their farm system is really starting to pay off through the likes of Nate McLouth, Brian Bixler, and Tom Gorzelanny.

I think that the biggest suprise is the Mets. They predicted to go far this year, but nothings goin their way.

ill say the Royals..........the cubs? everyone knew that they would be good this year

jason Posted: May 21, 2008 at 11:39 AM EDT

I'd like to say the Marlins... nobody thought they would be on the top of a powerful N.L East. Especially after losing cabrera and dontrelle(who btw isn't that good but still has value in his name)

Baseball prospectus has the rays winning 85 games this year which is definitely possible with a better bullpen and a great offense and a great rotation
