Home Run Derby: Josh Hamilton
How disappointing was it to see Hamilton not win the HR Derby? He absolutely annihilated the ball, I haven't seen anyone hit a ball that hard, that consistently in a long time. I think the HR derby winner should be awarded to the player with the most total home runs, as you could see, Hamilton put on a show for everyone in the stadium but ran out of gas towards the end.

the real problem with the HR derby is that the MLB never seems to find a good way to structure it. I say that they go back to the bracket-style derby. 8 players are seeded by the nuber of HRs they hit THE YEAR BEFORE

i think he did an amazing job....and its great that he came back from all the drugs and drinking and stuff....but at the same time i feel bad for Morneau considering hes not getting as much of the press attention that Hamilton got. I mean yea its great and all....but dont forget about the real winner

He did do it when it counted, it kept the people in the stands happy which is the ultimate goal of the hr derby

Sorry Beinstein- He needs to produce when it counts. Period.

The fact that hamilton had a dream about being in the HR derby at Yankee Stadium before he even knew he'd be in the league, or an all star game would be at the Stadium is really eerie. Bringing out his Legion coach was a nice touch

Amazing stuff, read his full story in SI really inspiring. Morneau should have given the trophy to him

I agree. How boring is it to watch guys like Garrett Anderson win the HR Derby when they hit home runs that generally aren't even 400 feet?

that was amazing - he hit two of the longest HRs i've ever seen
