weak serves
I'm not sure why, but lately my serves have been weak. I skipped last year playing because of an injury and haven't had much practice until now, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any advice on how to get a stronger serve?

It sounds like your skills have degraded from non-use. Hopefully you rehabbed well and you just have to reconnect to the skills you lost with practice. "Fear is the mindkiller" comes to mind and you might be scared. But if you're fundamentals are strong, you should be able to get it back. Do strengthening exercises that develop serving (shoulders and arm) and don't forget by applying perfect technique will multiply the strength of your serve. The key steps to a serve are the "toss", "drawing your arm" back for more distance of your arm to go thru to build up speed for impact, "contact of the ball" in the area near the crown above your head, "follow thru" and the "Shifting" of weight from your back foot to your front foot causing your backfoot to tiptoe. Be patient and don't give up.

I had broken my left wrist, went out for a season and when i came back, i couldnt pass couldnt set. I found that working out and working extra hard is what you need to do. After being forced to sit the bench for a season im now the star libero on my travel team.. so i say working out and practicing as hard as you can...

What kind of injury did you have?? You might have just lost some muscle mass in your shoulder/arm/back. Id say work on building back some muscle that you might have lost, then go back in the gym and work on your serve again. Also, by not playing for a year, that can really hurt your game. It might just take a season to get back to where you were. Injuries suck dont they??? Youll get through it..have patience!!
