Over thinking seems to be the number one thing. I do agree. Also, don't get caught up on what's happening in the stands..ie Cheerleaders and fans. I also feel not paying attention to down and distance is a major mistake you can not make.
I believe that the biggest mistake a player could make during a game would be to think. Think to much about when to swing or where to run or whether you can actually can do that or not can mess with your confidence and confidence is the key to the game. It's very important to understand that your body will almost automatically remember through muscle memory what you did in all those practices. You just can't over think it.
i agree with hannah , mistakes happen its how you recover that matters , this week i had some of my best games no missed serves 2 aces and like no errors but during our last game i missed a pass and couldnt recover after that and it took me out of the game and i had to get taken off , if you can let stuff go mistakes wont really matter
i think that one major thing a player should not do durin the game is get so down from a mistake that ultimately take themselves out of the game. it is also one of the most difficult things to do. mistakes happen and being able to let it go is one of the most important traits a person should hold onto.
yea i agree with the last two posts....you cant go out there and think too much...you do what comes natural and if you put the time in what comes natural will always be the right thing to do...plus i ve learned from experience that thinking just makes you make more mental mistakes and then you start to dwell on them and you want to do better but you just keep getting worse... it's a game...just play!
i agree with kris .. if you go on the court thinking about what not to do, youre already going to mess up. its like stepping on the court thinking you might lose, you've already lost. and everyones going to make mistakes
I believe it is not really of what you should not do during a game, cuz there are way too many to count, but what you should be doing. Communicate, team play, do your job, and never stop playing until the whistle or the end of the game. You are only as strong as your weakest player and for a volleyball team, everybody on the court and on the bench must contribute their all. Not trying to be boring but it reminds me about what Edison said. Someone asked Edison why keep on failing a thousand times in trying to create the lightbulb. Why don't you give up. Edison replied that he didn't fail a thousand times but he successfully found a thousand ways on how "not" to make a lightbulb.
Players should not miss a serve especially when it is to start the game, after a time out, and if your teammate previous missed theirs. A missed serve is an automatic point for the other side. A serve is something you solely can control.
