Show band or Corps Style?
Me, I love to watch and play in a Corps Style band but I like to watch a nice show band every once in a while. What do you guys like to watch or perform in?

well our band marches corp style and thats really reflected in the school history. I mean who could imagine marching like a show band in a kilt? its way too awkward and takes away the visual effect that our uniforms have

It's hard for me to choose between the two. But i know people in show style bands and they work just as hard, if not harder on their shows to get their performances perfect and down to point. It takes a lot to do what they do, and i respect that.

Yeah we heavily competition LiL band and even tho there is only 50 total we take everything so serious like there is 500 of us. we are hoping to take the state title this year. But Corps style bands work harder i think at their shows than show bands

I am in a Corps-style band. We are not a corps, but we do shows and we march and run our program the way a corps is run. Therefore, we take everything very seriously. It seems to me that show-style bands are more focused on a cute or popular show than good style, marching, etc. Therefore, I prefer corps-style bands.

I have been in a corp style band for 6 yrs now and I love it, and I do play woodwind instruments. I like to watch show bands but i find myself judging them because most of them do not have the playing abilities as corp style bands.

HAHAHA LoL there are is no woodwinds in a Drum Corps. LoL thats why i love it.

I think you are missing the point here.

Corps style bands are judged based upon general effect, visual performance, and musical performance. Not like showing off. more like technique and music stuff

Show bands serve the purpose of providing entertainment, like they are designed for the entertainment of the audience, whereas a corps style band might be more concerned with showing off their musical and visual abilities to the judges.

Both bands are fun to watch, but show bands are the best. Corps style only features brass and percussion, where woodwinds are left hanging out to dry. Show bands incorporate all aspects of a band: woodwinds, low brass, high brass, drumline, frontline, etc.
