  • General

    • What is TAKKLE?

      TAKKLE is the largest high school sports community. TAKKLE provides one place for all athletes, coaches, recruiters and fans to come together in a web-based community.

      Athletes have the ability to show off their accomplishments and compare their talents with other athletes. You can create your own profile, post your stats, check in with your favorite groups, participate in sports forums, watch video footage of your best moves, connect with other players, and so much more.

    • How do I join?
      Click here to join. Registration is FREE for everyone!
    • Is TAKKLE only for athletes?
      Not at all. TAKKLE welcomes everyone involved or interested in high school sports, including athletes, recruiters, coaches, and fans.
    • Who are Kyle and Mia?
      Kyle and Mia are your guides on TAKKLE. If you have any questions, feedback, suggestions, or whatever - just shoot them a message and they'll help you out.

  • Registration and Login

    • What if I forgot my password?
      No problem - just click on the "Forget Your Password?" link in the box that pops up after you click the Sign In link on the home page, and we'll email your info to you.
    • How do I change my password?
      Click on the blue "Edit Account" button below your profile photo, and then click on the "Change Password" link.

  • Profiles

    • How do I edit my profile?
      Just click on the blue "Edit Account" button below your profile photo. In here, you can adjust your message settings, privacy settings and change your password. If you want to change your "Lowdown", just type in the text fields - your edits are automatically saved.
    • What are Message settings?
      Message settings lets you decide what you'd like us to notify you about. You can get a message in your TAKKLE inbox, or get it in your regular email as well.
    • What are Privacy settings?
      Privacy settings let you decide who gets to view your profile. If you don't want to be found on Google (or other search engines), set your profile to Private or Friends only.
    • What is "Summary Stats"?
      It's where you put a summary of your sports highlights, how many points you scored in the season, or whatever other accomplishments you want to share with others.
    • What is "Trash Talk"?
      Like talking smack to people on the court, letting them know why their team will lose, or the banter on the infield between innings; that's Trash Talk. Some users also use this field for a headline, favorite quote, or just a welcome message to their profile.
    • What is the Challenge button?
      Clicking the Challenge button initiates a Throwdown with the user you have chosen. (Scroll down if you want to learn about Throwdowns).
    • What is the Vote/Nominate Me button?
      This button allows you to nominate your favorite TAKKLE athletes to appear in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd. To find out more about this feature, check out the "SI" section in this FAQ.

  • Photos

    • How can I add photos to my profile page?
      From the top navigation bar, hover over "Photos" then click "Upload Photo" from the drop down. Then click "Browse" to select the photo file from your computer. Pick the photo you want, and press "Open." From there, you can add a title and tags to your photo. Once you are done, click the "submit" button and you're all set!
    • What are tags?
      Tags are a quick and easy way to tell others what is on your pictures. By tagging your pictures it allows others to find your photos by keyword. After you upload your photos, just type in a few keywords that describe each picture and you're all set!
    • How do I add/change my default picture?
      To change the default photo on the top left of your home page, click the blue "browse" button below your photos on your home page. Choose your new default photo by clicking the button with the star or the "Make Profile Pic" button.
    • How do I delete a photo?
      Click the blue "browse" button below your photos on your home page. Then click the minus icon below the photo you want to remove.
    • What do I do when I see an offensive photo?
      You can anonymously report the photo by clicking the button with the exclamation sign next to the image. A form will appear, and you'll have to let us know why you think the photo is a problem. A TAKKLE customer service representative will evaluate the photo, and then take further action if necessary.
    • What photo formats are accepted on TAKKLE?
      Right now, TAKKLE supports JPEG and GIF files. (Note: Animated GIFS will not work)
    • What is the maximum file size for a picture uploaded on TAKKLE?
      The max size is 2MB. If your photo exceeds the limit, try a smaller version.
    • Why is my photo cut off or off-center?
      We're aware of this issue and working hard to make sure that photos uploaded do not get cropped incorrectly. We appreciate your patience.

  • Videos

    • How do I upload a video to TAKKLE?
      From the top navigation bar, hover over "Videos", then click "Upload Video" from the drop down. Then click "Browse" to select the video file from your computer. Pick the video you want, and press "Open." While the video is uploading, type in a name, description and tags. Then click the Submit button. Be patient, it takes a minute or two for your video to appear in your gallery.
    • Why hasn't my video shown up yet?
      All videos are converted to a special format after they are uploaded to TAKKLE. Some videos take up to 30 minutes to convert, so please be patient. If your video still doesn't show up after 30 minutes, please try to re-upload it, or contact us directly at feedback@takkle.com.
    • How long will my videos stay on TAKKLE?
      Videos stay on TAKKLE until the members choose to take them down. Videos which violate our terms and conditions, and have been reported by other users may be taken down by TAKKLE.
    • What are accepted video formats on TAKKLE?
      Acceptable formats include: .wmv, .flv, .avi, .mpg, .mp4 and .mov.
    • What is the maximum size of a video that I can upload on TAKKLE?
      The max size is 100MB. Upload as many videos as you want, enter contests, and show us your best highlights!
    • Why isn't my video playing?
      Check to see if you have uploaded the right file format. If you have, send us an email to feedback@takkle.com. We'll get in touch, and figure out how we can make sure your video goes live.
    • How do I get my video from YouTube, MySpace or other videos sites onto TAKKLE?
      At the moment, you can't embed video links, but if you have the original video file, you can upload it directly to TAKKLE. If this is not possible, please contact us at feedback@takkle.com for further assistance.
    • How do I report a video for inappropriate content?
      You can anonymously report the video by clicking the button with the exclamation point next to the image. A form will appear, and you'll have to let us know why you think the video is a problem. A TAKKLE customer service representative will evaluate the video, and then take further action if necessary.

  • Friends

    • How do I add someone as my friend?
      To add a friend just either click the "Add as friend" button from their profile page. Or from the browse page, just click the "Add as friend" button below their picture - it's the icon with the little person and "+" sign. They will then be asked to confirm if you are their friend or not. If they say yes, you will have a new friend!
    • How do I invite my friends to Takkle?
      It's easy to invite your friends! Just go to http://www.takklefriends.com to get started.
    • How do I remove a friend?
      Go to your friends list and click the button below their photo that looks like an outline of a person with a minus sign.
    • If I reject someone as a friend, will they find out?
      No. Nothing will show up on their page. That person will just not appear as your friend.
    • What if someone is harassing me?
      If anyone posts inappropriate things to you, report them immediately. Go to their profile and click the button with the exclamation point under their profile picture. If you want them to stop looking at your profile or stop sending you messages, adjust your Privacy settings.   • Groups

    • How do I join a group?
      You can join any "public" group, or any group that you have permission to join. These groups can be found using the search box on the upper right of any page. Just type in the name or a keyword for the group you want to find and then click the Groups tab after your results appear. Alternatively, you can browse Featured, Most Recent, Most Viewed, and Most Members from the main Groups page. When you find the group you are looking for, click on the "Join this group" button - it's the icon of two people and a plus sign.
    • How do I create a group?
      Hover over the Groups tab and click the Create a Group button. From there, you just upload a picture; fill in the group name, description and category.
    • What is "Administrative Upload Only" mean?
      "Administrative Upload Only" means that only the group's creator can upload pictures, videos, and create announcements for that group.

  • Throwdowns

    • What is a Throwdown?
      You can compete with your friends and rivals with picture and video challenges to see who's got the best technique or the best physique in just about any sport. You can also add whatever category you'd like. Other users vote and decide who's got the goods. The winner of the Throwdown is the user who has the most votes when the Throwdown ends.
    • How do you create a Throwdown?
      After you get to the Throwdown page, click on the "Create a Throwdown" Tab towards the top of the page. Then follow the instructions on the screen to start your Throwdown. Make sure to check off the little box that says "Invite your TAKKLE friends to vote for you!" to get the most votes! Also, you can challenge a person right from their profile by clicking on the CHALLENGE button!
    • What is a TAKKLE BATTLE?
      TAKKLE BATTLES are online video contests where high school athletes show their stuff in a variety of skills. Check out the winners from our previous battles and stay tuned for upcoming ones.
    • What is the Throwdown Trophy Case?
      You want to become a Throwdown Legend? The Trophy Case honors the greatest competitors in TAKKLE's Throwdown feature. Here's how many wins you need to advance in the ranks:

      Yes, college recruiters are actively looking for prospects on TAKKLE. Dozens of new recruiters are joining every week.

    • What is Sports Illustrated Faces?
      Sports Illustrated selects top high school athletes from TAKKLE to appear in upcoming issues of the magazine. Click on the "SI FACES" button at the top of the page to see some of the recent selections and who's at the top of the Leaderboard.
    • What is Sports Illustrated Video Faces?
      Sports Illustrated selects top high school athletes who have uploaded highlight videos to TAKKLE to appear in upcoming issues of the magazine. Click on the "SI FACES" button at the top of the page to see some of the recent selections.
    • What are Sports Illustrated Nominations for?
      The Nominate Me button and the SI button let you nominate an athlete that you think would be a good candidate for Sports Illustrated Video Faces. Nominees should be chosen for their athletic ability and accomplishments.
    • What is the Leaderboard?
      The leaderboard shows you who on TAKKLE has the most nominations to appear in Sports Illustrated magazine.
    • How do I get chosen for Sports Illustrated Faces or Video Faces?
      The more information you add to your profile — highlight video clips, action photos, stats, awards and other accomplishment — the better your chances are to be selected. The number of votes/nominations you receive from other people on TAKKLE also improves your chances of being selected. So invite all your teammates and friends. All they have to do is join TAKKLE, then go to your profile page and click the Nominate Me button on your profile, or the SI button in the gallery pages.
    • What is TAKKLE doing about fake votes?
      SI and TAKKLE are very careful in the Faces selection process. If someone has been found to have cheated the system, they will not be rewarded. The number of votes is one of several criteria used to select athletes for Faces. Stats, action photos and videos, awards, and your overall athletic performance also play a very important role.

  • Forums

    • What are the TAKKLE forums?
      The TAKKLE forums are a place where high school athletes can sound off and voice their opinions about sports subjects in which they're interested. Whether it's a rumor about an anticipated basketball recruit or proper technique in archery, the TAKKLE forums provides its users with an outlet to discuss their interests.
    • Do I have to be a member to use the TAKKLE forums?
      You do not have to be a member of TAKKLE to enjoy reading forum posts submitted by our users. However, only registered users can actively participate in discussions through posting and replying. If you are not a TAKKLE member and wish to engage in forum conversations, please click here.
    • How do I post a topic?
      "Create a Topic" buttons are located conveniently on the forums main page as well as within the main page of each topic category. After clicking, just fill out the "subject" and "message" portions of the topic form fields, choose your category from the drop-down, and submit! Only logged-in registered TAKKLE members can create topics within the forums. If you are not a member, and wish to become one, please click here to join.
    • How do I post a comment?
      Posting a comment to an existing topic is easy to do in the TAKKLE forums. Logged-in users can simply fill out the comment box residing within every topic post and then click submit. If a user wants to respond not to the main topic but rather to a comment left by another user, then they need only to click on the "Reply to this comment" link beneath the comment they wish to reply, fill out the comment box that appears, and click submit. Only logged-in registered TAKKLE members can post topic responses within the forums. If you are not a member, and wish to become one, please click here.
    • How do I share with friends?
      Currently TAKKLE forums do not have embeddable code for sharing on other sites. The best way to share with friends is to copy and paste the specific forum's URL and send it to them.
    • How do I delete/moderate posts?
      This feature is currently not available but may be accessible in future iterations of the forums. If a user submits a post that is in violation of TAKKLE policy, please submit a complaint.
    • What is the TAKKLE forums code of conduct?
      The TAKKLE forums code of conduct emphasizes the Golden Rule: treat others how you would like to be treated. TAKKLE promotes sports-centric conversations which are intelligent, fun, and engaging for its entire community. Users that abuse the forums by submitting content deemed inappropriate by TAKKLE will have their posts removed and accounts potentially terminated.     • How do I stop receiving TAKKLE forum email updates?
      To stop receiving email updates regarding replies to forum posts you've created, log in to your TAKKLE account and visit the "Message Settings" tab within your account to manage what email notifications are sent to you by TAKKLE.
    • What do the "thumbs up/down" mean?
      TAKKLE wants to give its users the ability to decide what forum content is good and what forum content just plain stinks. Let the TAKKLE community know what you think of posts by either giving them a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down.
    • What sports are represented in the TAKKLE forums?
      TAKKLE is proud to have 40 different high school sports represented within our forums. In the event that the sport in which you want to engage in conversation is not included in our list, there is a "General" category selection that can compensate for all other entries.
    • How do I browse topics by sport?
      To browse forum posts by sport simply select the sport category that you're looking for from the drop-down menu on the forums main page. If the sport you're looking for is not listed within the drop-down menu there is a possibility a post has been made regarding it within the "General" category.
    • What posts make the forums main page?
      All posts displayed on the forums main page are conversations which have been updated the most recently by other users.
    • How do I search for a specific post?
      Currently, the best way to search for a specific post in the TAKKLE forums is to browse by category through the drop-down menu. In the future TAKKLE users will be able to utilize a search feature for forum posts similar to the functionality currently provided for photos, videos, users, and groups.

  • Rankings

    • What are the TAKKLE Rankings?
      The TAKKLE Rankings are lists compiled by a team of experts to identify the best high school athletes in a particular sport.
    • How do you decide who gets in the TAKKLE Rankings?
      For each sport, TAKKLE partners with the leading amateur and youth organizations to scout and rate players all over the country. From those reports the top high school athletes are identified.
    • I don't agree with your Rankings, what do I do?
      The great thing about TAKKLE is that you are able to comment and make your voice heard on the Rankings page. You even have the ability to rate each athlete as overrated or underrated. We encourage you to make suggestions and identify players you think we have missed.
    • How do I get considered to be in the TAKKLE Rankings for my sport?
      The first step is to create a TAKKLE profile, complete with photos, highlight videos, and summary stats. After you've made an awesome profile, send an e-mail to feedback@takkle.com and we'll have someone look at your profile right away!
    • Why doesn't my sport have Rankings?
      TAKKLE is working to include as many sports as possible in our Rankings. Every year we hope to add new sports to our Rankings — so if you haven't seen your sport yet, check back often!
