    Any band member knows the intense practices held and the insurmountable amount of endurance it takes to make possible the things we do. Some athletes would scoff at this statement, but I have known many an athlete/band member to claim that marching band was just as intense as baseball/basketball/etc. Marching band requires just as much (if not more) concentration and dedication than any sport. If cheerleading can be considered a sport, then marching band sure as heck better be also.

    • http://youtube.com/watch?v=6WWmM1jpM8I The 2005 DCI championships on ESPN2- During the break they hooked up a performer to calculate the energy it takes to march a DCI show. Cavaliers tenor player hooked up to some research equipment while he marches- very interesting results. The things we knew, that others don't believe! haha Just because we make it look easy, doesn't mean that it is. =)

yeah i love marching band and it is so a spot this is my second year of it and my second year of Tuba i love it and getting braces didnt make it that hard to play tuba

I have my last Monday rehearsal for the drumline today(5-9 not bad at all)..then next week starts the fun stuff. I have precamp 9-4 Monday-Friday.. then the week after that I have band camp 8:30-5 Monday-Friday. i'm looking forward to it though!

marchng band gave me shin splints and volleyball didnt. if band isnt a sport, i dont know what is!!

i once participated in marching band in a wheel chair...it was amazingly difficult. and yes, if you compete, it is a sport, but thats just my general rule for all things.
