To Ellie: yes! I'm 5'4" with decent legs - not much longer or shorter than anybody else's at my height. Two years ago I learned how to four step, and last year I learned how to three step. A friend of mine who graduated last year is shorter than me, maybe a little more leg than is normal for her height, and three-stepped to a 15.7. It's completely doable - just focus on the rhythm and work on strength in your thighs, via lifting weights, yoga, or doing extra running or something like that. Good luck! :)

I have a question for all the hurdles and feel free to leave a message with the answer. I'm 5 3/4 inches tall and don't have very long legs, I do the 100 m High hurdles at varsity level, do you think it is possible for me to 4 step? I really love hurdles and am thrilled that I can still get over them but I want to improve but not sure I can 4 step.

Hey Andrew.. I know people think you can be sloppy on the 300's but there are ten hurdles and say your form improves your speed over the hurdle by even a 1/10 of a second that's a whole second faster overall! So think form and power which will help get you through the length of the race.

I run the 300LH, 100IH, 4x1, 4x4, 400m open... I LOVE track and have competing at the county level since freshman year. I got DQed or I would have gone to state last year in the 300LH, my favorite and best race. SO my goal this year, senior year, is to go to State finals. right now my p.r.'s are: 300LH-45.90 100IH-16.26 and my goals are: 300LH- low 43 at least 100IH- at least 15.5 but my goal is to break into the 14's

Hi! I run the 100hh and the 400mh, primarily, but I've run everything 400 and below. I broke the 400mh record last year (now 66.72, I want 62 this year and States), my best 100hh time is 16.3 and I want to go sub-sixteen this year or next, and I also usually run the 4x1 and either the 4x4 or the 100. I want to break the 400, 100, and 100hh records before I graduate, I'm currently a junior. So hello :).

No ones form is perfect. There is always something you can work on. Everyday in practice figure out at least one thing you know you need to fix and focus on fixing it.
