This is for people who love to swim. We don't get much credit. I've actually heard people say that swimming is not a sport. And seeing as there is no swim group here, I decided to make one. So this is for all of us swim fanatics!!

I'm a distance freestyler, and I'm very tall for my age, (around 5'11, 14 years old.) But for some really weird reason, no matter how hard I kick I can't go anywhere. Is there like, a certain technique to kick as there is in pull? I have very long legs, I just don't know how to use them... I'm also a horrible runner. I can swim for 5km, but give me a pair of sneakers and I wouldn't be able to run 5km..

Ronni.... it's all about the strength of your kick and your pull, that's what really gets you somewhere, if there's not a powerful kick your glide will suck and you'll get nowhere. that's another thing the glide 'cause if you rush it even though it might feel fast you're really getting nowhere.

that is true, but you also need to think about it as the closer you get your legs to your body, the smaller in a ball you get, and the smaller of a ball you get, the faster you turn. so in a sense, it is a win lose situation.
