- I always mastrbate. is that i m still a virgin? Frances Wright was born September 6, 1795 to an affluent family in Dundee, Scotland. Her father was wealthy from being a designer of Dundee trade tokens. Wright was orphaned at the age of three and was left with an abundant inheritance. Wright grew up living with her relatives. Her uncle, James Milne, was a major influence in her life and he was a ‘progressive philosopher who questioned her about conventional ideas’. Wright was self educated in Glasgow, Scotland. Wright and her sister emigrated to and toured the U.S from 1818 to 1820. Wright’s attraction to the U.S. led her to become a citizen of the country. Wright converted to Owenism after visiting New Harmony in Indiana which was a socialist community sanctioned by Robert Owen. Wright formed her own community, Nashoba, which was made up of 2,000 acres of woods located 13 miles from Memphis, Tenn. She bought slaves from neighbors, and freed them in her community. She encouraged sexual freedom, which she thought was ‘discrimination’. She also had a woman’s dress code, wanted people to have free education, free speech, and she supported feminists. She died December 13, 1852.
